Open Position: Youth Employment Coordinator

Welcome to La Colaborativa, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Latinx immigrants, enhancing community well-being, and advocating for accountability among institutional decision-makers.

La Colaborativa is looking for a program coordinator passionate about youth development, mobility, and wellbeing. The Youth Employment Coordinator will coordinate key aspects of the Summer Youth Employment Program and Year Round Youth Employment Program, from planning through implementation, with the goal of fostering social, educational, and economic growth amongst youth in Chelsea. Rooted in the tenet of dignity and inclusion, the program strives to embrace Latinx and immigrant youth through a culturally sensitive program of workforce training and job readiness that highlights, cultivates, and maximizes the latent potential of all youth in Chelsea.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate program planning and application phase activities. Support curriculum development, lead the program application process, evaluate applicants, and coordinate participant selection through a lottery.

Craft and execute outreach strategies to increase awareness of the program and engage with youth, particularly disenfranchised youth.

Actively engage with youth participants to assess needs, abilities, and interests. Foster positive, empowering relationships with youth participants, functioning as a role model by exemplifying best practices.

Coordinate youth-centered after-school and summer youth job placements. Form and maintain relationships with community-based sites, such as local businesses, hosting youth employees.

Supervise youth employees and, as directed, program staff, managing attendance, performance, hiring, training, and discipline. Conduct regular assessments and convey constructive feedback to maintain accountability.

Facilitate workforce development, career readiness, leadership development, and career exploration training. Encourage the adoption of soft skills, career awareness, and economic literacy essential to securing employment and excelling in the workplace.

Engage parents and guardians of youth participants with regularity. Devise and carry out parent engagement plans to improve youth outcomes.

Coordinate academic support, monitor academic performance, and develop academic improvement strategies, in conjunction with local schools.

In coordination with clinical mental health counseling, connect youth and families to internal and external community resources.

Assist with the completion of timely reports, administrative duties, and assessments with youth and staff.

Prioritize cultural safety and sensitivity, specifically with Latinx and immigrant communities, in all facets of work.

Qualifications and Skills

Bilingual Spanish-English preferred.

Bachelors Degree in social sciences, community planning, public policy, management, or related field.

2 years of program management and coordination experiences, preferably in youth. development or human services.

Exhibits a strong alignment with La Colaborativa’s mission and values, reflecting a dedication to advancing equity, social justice, and the empowerment of the Latinx and immigrant community.

Demonstrable ability to inspire, motivate, and lead youth of varying backgrounds.

Highly skilled at written and oral communication, as well as tactfully interacting with people through a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach.

Excellent organizational, task management, and time management skills, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team.

Ability to design creative, effective youth-centered curriculum and project-based learning activities.

Background in excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experienced at creating and implementing systems to remain organized and complete tasks on-time.

Empathetic and compassionate, with a strong sense of community.

Position: Youth Employment Coordinator

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends

Location: 318 Broadway, Chelsea, MA, 02150

Salary: $55,000-$60,000, depending upon experience, plus a $3,000 sign-on bonus following three (3) month probationary period, with opportunity for an additional bonus after satisfactory completion of six month review

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift
